Ultimate Werewolf

Beholder

Team Villager

Overview

A Seer is the villageā€™s ultimate weapon against the werewolves, so it’s always important to know who is a Seer. Behold, the Beholder! This role allows the player to learn the identity of a single Seer during the first night. While it may seem like a simple role, confirming the villageā€™s strongest ally can change the course of the game.

The Beholder can be found in the Ultimate Werewolf: Extreme edition.

Ability:

During the first night, learn who the Seer is.

Notes:

If playing with multiple seers, determine ahead of time which seer(s) the Beholder will view the first night.

Beholder's Guide

As mentioned before, the ability to know the Seer is a major advantage. However, a werewolfā€™s main target is the Seer, and would love to have their hands on that bit of information. So the Beholder must use this knowledge with discretion, especially if a Sorceress is in the game.

Don't Reveal the Seer:

The Seer is the villageā€™s most valuable asset, and as the Beholder, it is essential to safeguard their identity. The best safety measure is keeping the Seerā€™s identity a secret, and do not reveal it. You can, of course, confirm their identity if the Seer makes themselves public.

2nd the Seer:

The Seerā€™s choices are guided by their insights into the true identities of players. By aligning your votes with the Seerā€™s, you create a unified front that carries more weight and increases the likelihood of eliminating the werewolves.

Protect Seer:

If the Seer has revealed themselves, it is now crucial that you confirm this to other villagers, and encourage roles such as the Bodyguard, Priest, or even the Witch to protect the Seer!

Moderator Tips

The Beholder only wakes up during the first night, and their ability to see a Seer is straightforward. This makes it an easy role for the Moderator to manage. Still, here are some tips to remember:

Beholds only one:

Even with multiple Seers, the Beholder only knows one. As Moderator, pick which Seer the Beholder will know beforehand.

POST-REVELATION:

After the first night, the Beholder acts like a regular villager. They can use their knowledge about the Seer strategically, but there’s nothing else for the Moderator to manage with them after that.

Final Thoughts

The Beholder is a fun addition to Ultimate Werewolf. It’s a low maintenance role for the moderator and it also allows new players to participate in the game beyond a plain villager. At the same time, experienced players can leverage their information and insights to influence village discussions and strategies, adding depth and intrigue to the gameplay.Ā
