Ultimate Werewolf

Cult Leader

Team Independent

Overview

Do you ever know you’re in a cult? The Cult Leader is an Independent role in Ultimate Werewolf and is driven by a singular agenda: to grow their hidden following. Each night the Cult Leader targets a player to join their cult without the player’s awareness of the conversion. The victory is achieved when all players are converted.

The Cult Leader is included in the Ultimate Werewolf: Extreme edition.

Ability:

Each night, choose 1 player to join your cult. If all remaining players are in your cult, you win.

Notes:

Do not change teams; Just like real life, they are blissfully unaware they are in a cult. Once the Cult Leader is eliminated, all players are no longer part of the Cult (even if all other players had joined the cult at the same time the Cult Leader was eliminated).

Cult Leader's Guide

The Cult Leader is one of the easier Independent roles as your ability does not cause any immediate alarm among the villagers. However, like a plain villager, the Cult Leader is vulnerable to Werewolf eliminations at night. Here are some tips to help you survive and win as the Cult Leader:

Order for the Order:

Keep track of converted players. The simplest way is to start with your neighbor on your left and continue in this order clockwise.

Survive:

Ultimately, a win condition for the Cult Leader can be achieved simply by surviving. While you can’t protect yourself during the night, you do need to be ready to defend yourself if accused of being a werewolf, the Cult Leader, or another nefarious role. If the Tanner is within the deck, this could be a last-resort alibi to make the players second guess eliminating you.

Moderator Tips

Moderating a game with the Cult Leader is a simple matter of keeping track of who is converted and who is not, however, it can be a demanding task. Here are some tips to help:

Note CONVERSIONS:

It’s almost required that you take notes to keep track of who has been converted. There are no obvious external signs when a player has been converted, so the only way to keep track is through careful note-taking. Keep a notebook handy to record each conversion and be on the lookout for the Cult Leader’s win condition on converting all surviving players.

CONSIDER ADDITIONAL HELP:

If the game is complex with many roles, it might be beneficial to have a co-moderator. One can facilitate the game while the other focuses on note-taking and reviewing the night’s events.
