Ultimate Werewolf

Aura Seer

Team Villager

Overview

Not every threat in the village is a werewolf, and they often go unnoticed. That’s where the Aura Seer comes in. With the ability to see beyond the ordinary, the Aura Seer can identify players who are more than just plain villagers or werewolves. However, distinguishing between friend and foe can be challenging, requiring the player to rely on intellect and observation.

The Apprentice Seer is included in the Ultimate Werewolf: Extreme edition.

Ability:

Each night, learn if a player has a role other than plain Villager or plain Werewolf.

Notes:

The moderator gives the Aura Seer a thumbs up for players that are neither a plain Villager nor a plain Werewolf.

Aura Seer's Guide

The Aura Seer’s ability offers a vague glimpse into other players’ roles. It’s essential to combine this insight with the information from the day’s discussions. Your goal isn’t to always find a threat, but sometimes to confirm claims and detect lies.

Investigate Villagers:

Target players who claim to be villagers since you can only discern who isn’t a plain villager or werewolf. This approach helps verify if players are lying or at least to confirm that they are either a Villager or a Werewolf.

Confirm the Specials:

Investigate players claiming specialized roles, such as the Spellcaster. This is especially effective when the plain Werewolf is the village’s sole threat, as any confirmation for a specialized role confirms they are an ally.

The A-Team:

As the Aura Seer, you get insights different than other investigative roles such as the Paranormal Investigator, Apprentice Seer, and Seer. Work with these other roles if possible, to share information.

Moderator Tips

Managing the Aura Seer in-game is straightforward—wake the player and confirm if the selected player has a specialized role. However here a couple of tips to help:

COMMUNICATE WITH SIGNALS:

When the Aura Seer wakes up during the night, you can use various signals to confirm if a player is a specialized role. While a thumbs-up gesture is recommended by the rules, a head nod for “no” or “yes” is clear for the player to understand.

PRE-GAME BRIEFING:

Before starting, tell all players what village-threatening roles are present. The Aura Seer can detect specialized roles but can’t tell a special villager from a threat like the Tanner.

Final Thoughts

The Aura Seer is a great role to include in larger games or unique decks such as one with no Seer. The simpler the deck the more potent the Aura Seer’s ability can be. Its simplicity makes it a preferable choice for various player levels, although experienced players might leverage this role’s ability more effectively due to its vagueness compared to the Seer’s.
